DND Group was recently named one of the Top 200 Restaurant Groups by Nation’s Restaurant. As a team we are eager to bring aboard a motivated accounting manager to join our Accounting Department.
The accounting manager will report directly to the controller and is responsible for overseeing the following areas and teams: accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and fixed assets. The accounting manager will have the opportunity to help develop and maintain scalable accounting procedures, practices, and principles. They will also be depended upon to review the ledger system, and in particular entry reconciliations.
Responsibilities
Accounts Payable (Primary Focus):
- Oversee and streamline the entire accounts payable function, ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient processing of invoices and payments.
- Develop, implement, and maintain AP policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance and prevent fraud.
- Monitor cash flow and optimize working capital by managing vendor payment terms and schedules.
- Ensure proper coding, approvals, and documentation for all AP transactions.
- Lead vendor relationship management, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring timely resolution of payment discrepancies.
- Implement AP automation and process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Conduct AP aging analysis and reporting, identifying trends and opportunities for cost savings.
- Assist in sales tax compliance
- Ensure proper 1099 reporting for vendors.
Financial Reporting & General Accounting:
- Oversee and manage general accounting functions, including month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions, performing variance analysis and financial reviews.
- Research and apply technical accounting guidance to ensure compliance with evolving standards.
- Maintain and improve upon current accounting infrastructure, ensuring scalability with business growth.
Accounts Receivable & Fixed Assets:
- Oversee accounts receivable (AR) functions, ensuring timely invoicing, collections, and credit risk management.
- Manage fixed asset accounting, ensuring accurate capitalization, depreciation, and asset tracking.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Implement, document, and maintain a strong system of internal controls to mitigate risk.
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Serve as a key liaison for external auditors and regulatory agencies as necessary.
Leadership & Special Projects:
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, providing leadership, guidance, and professional development.
- Continuously evaluate processes and systems, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Assist with special projects related to financial system implementations, business process improvements, and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance/related field is required.
- Solid, demonstrable understanding of US GAAP and State/Federal tax laws.
- 5-7 years of experience in finance/accounting environment.
- 2 years in a managerial role.
- Accounts payable expertise.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and Excel skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of a large ERP system, NetSuite a plus.
- Supervisory or management experience of a small team.
- Self-starter with a growth mindset.
